FIRST EDITION, 26 JAN 2018
VENUE - DISINI PAVILION
12.00 PM to 1.00 PM
Action #1 - It's Not A Good Time
BRENDA TAN & ZOEY WONG
Everyone has experienced love and loss. This is an open invitation to reconcile feelings and parts of yourselves that you may have tucked away, because it was never ‘a good time’. An experiment involving primitive projection technology - Brenda and Zoey present the real-time melting process of delicately-crafted flowers embedded in ice. Viewers are challenged to see beauty within this seemingly mundane act, in the hope of finding something within these visuals for them to hold onto.
1.00 PM to 2.00 PM
Action #2 - Taiwan 2017/2018
JOANNA YEONG
In a recent trip to Taiwan, Joanna experienced chilly weather just a degree or two shy of the ‘Singaporean winter’ that briefly revealed itself. The trip had long been at the top of her bucket list and she documented her memories through extensive photography. The photo journal she will present is arranged from day one to seven of her trip, showing scenes of Taiwan through the lens of an aspiring photographer.
2.00 PM to 3.00 PM
Action #3 - Pink IC
ADAM LAU
Taking on the issue of identity, Adam will station himself outside the DISINI Pavilion to check the pink ICs of all visitors before entry – a reference to checks performed at the 2017 Pink Dot event. Without an IC, visitors will have to apply for one on the spot; filling in their name, race, date of birth and sex. Their new pink IC will be flashed on a screen alongside others, with a compilation of ICs created throughout the hour.
3.00 PM to 4.00 PM
Action #4 - PINK
POLINA KOROBOVA
Polina will conduct a performance covered in layers of Vaseline, standing barefooted on a giant layer of reflective, pink glitter. Titled PINK after a choice of colour, this durational piece involves the artist immersing herself in the material by interacting with the glitter surface and showering herself with glitter. Towards the end of the performance, her whole body will be covered, including her hair, as she transforms herself into an artwork.
